lakes of Switzerland

Sailing course on Lake Zurich - Hafen Enge, that's how it started. With the sailing license then membership in the Sailcom and Sailbox cooperatives. Over 100 boats on many Swiss lakes.

Sailing on Lake Constance and gladly over to the German shore and also on Lake Maggiore to Lombardy. Very often also sailing in the middle of the mountains of Central Switzerland on Lake Lucerne up to Lake Uri.

In addition to pure day-sailing, also with smaller yachts for long weekends or  weekly on Lac Leman in south-west Switzerland.

IJsselmeer 2012

Our first trip together outside of Switzerland took us to the IJsselmeer. At Easter 2012 we practiced port maneuvers and boat handling extensively with a skipper trainer . A good start for us - anticipated one or the other stressful situation and thus laid a good basis for our "sailing for two".

Cyclades 2012

In the summer of the same year we made a Cyclades trip. Starting from Athens, we went to the middle of the Aegean to Mykonos, Paros and Ios.

As expected, we had 14 days of stable weather - which is often the case in midsummer  "Meltemi" means...so rather a lot of wind.

For us a very good experience to gain confidence in us and the equipment.

Tenerife - Gomera 2012

At the turn of the year 2012/13 we made our first joint experiences with the Atlantic. In two weeks we sailed a nice round from Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Gomera to La Palma and back.

With a good portion of beginner's luck, one or the other fish landed on the line and completed the Christmas and New Year's Eve dinner.

Dodecandes 2013

For the second time in the Aegean - starting in Rhodes and island hopping west and turning point in Astypalaia.

Overall a little quieter - fewer people and less wind - than last year. With the varied bays and harbors of the various islands, pure pleasure sailing.

Cyclades 2014

In 2014 we were with a larger crew for the first time - that means four of us. A week from Athens to Naxos, Milos and Hydra.

Learned that jet effects on the leeward coast of the islands and gennaker do not necessarily go well together.

Therefore also experienced something practical about "medicine on board" and treated the open fracture on Christine's little finger in a first-class way (after all!).

Sychelles 2014

Something different  - in two respects:
Sailing in the Indian Ocean and traveling on a catamaran for the first time.

Sailing in the Sychelles inner islands is relatively hassle free. Some reefs and squalls, with heavy rains and high winds to be aware of.

Launched from Praslin to Silhouette, La Digue and Mahé. The distances are quite short and so there was enough time to explore the islands, the reefs and nature extensively.

We fished every day and mostly had very quick fishing luck.

Cyclades 2015

Easter in the Aegean  - quite cold, deserted and good sailing wind. A beautiful tour of the western Cyclades  - Athens, Tinos, Naxos, Milos, Hydra and Poros .

In the evening it quickly got quite cool and we were happy to have a spacious and heated saloon with the Oceanis 48. We cooked a lot together and enjoyed the atmosphere of the different islands.

Laconic Gulf 2015

In the summer of 2015 we went on our first trip with Gregor's sister and family. So there were six of us on board. The four-cabin Sun Odyssey 439 was large enough for a comfortable voyage. Even if some of the cabins remained empty because people liked to spend the night on deck...

From Athens we went south in stages to the island of Kythira. After stopping and circumnavigating the island, we sailed on to the turning point in the Peloponnese to Gythion .

On the way back we had to circumnavigate Cape Malea. Unfortunately, the cape lived up to its bad reputation and we fought against 40 KN wind on the nose. The detour south around Kythira would have been much more family-friendly.

Scotland 2016

"Around Scotland" was on the program. In Ardfern  - north of Glasgow - we took over the ship: an older Amel Maramu for three weeks. A great ship for both of us - safe to sail even in strong winds and very easy to handle as a couple.
First we went to the Outer Hebrides and we anchored in a quiet bay in South Uist. Then head north to Stornoway, the main town on the island of Lewis and Harris. There we fitted a good weather window and sailed on to the  Orkney's. In Kirkwell we found enough space in the marina. After some very nice days on the different islands we continued via Wick to Inverness. There Petra and Yves came on board - welcome support for them  29 locks of the Caledonia Canal. So we came back into the Jura Sound and were able to close the circle around Scotland.

Azores 2017

14 days of island hopping in the extraordinary Azores. We are on the road again with a large crew - Gregor's younger sister Magda with Ingo, Jeremias and Emilia are on board. From Ponta Delgada on Sao Miguel we first went to the southern island  Santa Maria with the port of Vila do Porto.  Then followed a longer trek to Terceira with the port of Aangra do Heroismo. From there on to Graciosa, Faial and Pico.
Great sailing with constant wind and very nice hikes in a unique volcanic landscape, bullfights on the village streets - bloodless but not without danger...

Thailand 2018

Sailing in the Gold of Thailand - around the islands of Koh Chang, Koh Mak and Koh Kut.
Many small fishing villages but also tourist centers with all the associated phenomena.

With a little planning, quiet bays with crystal clear water and great snorkeling spots can be easily reached.

Tenerife 2018

Atlantic again. This time together with our friends Christian and André. A short island tour starting in Tenerife Las Galletas (Marina del Sur) and first to  El Hierro - Puerto De La Estaca. Then further after
La Palma-Santa Cruz De and finally via San Sebastian de la Gomera - Marina La Gomera back to Tenerife Las Galletas (Marina del Sur).

Brittany 2019

We charter an Alubat Ovni 45 - nice ship!

Two weeks in early summer for sailing in Brittany. A great pleasure from a sailing and culinary point of view! Start in Trinite sur Mer.

From the Glénan Islands down to the Ile de Noirmoutier and Ile de Yeux. In between, beautiful port cities with a lot of maritime tradition. A great sailing area and here we come
  surely again...

Brittany 2020

...said and done. At least Gregory. Somehow we managed to get back to Trinite-sur-Mer in October, despite the corona-related travel restrictions, and to charter the Ovni 45 again. Unfortunately, neither Christine nor Christian can be there. So this time the crew consists of Gregor with André.  So they also miss the violent autumn storm that whistles over the west coast. We find a safe place in the inner docks of the Ile de Groix. On the neighboring Belle-Ile there is severe damage that night - lucky!

Early summer is definitely the better season.
